Well, I have only been using this compact for a short time and already I am impressed.BUILD QUALITY. This little gem is built like cameras from a bygone era, many people asking me if its an old film camera and commenting on its good looks and solid feel. It looks good and it feels solidly well made! FEATURES and HANDLING. While a lot of thought and clever design and styling has gone into the outside of the X10, there is technology in abundance crammed inside. The EXR CMOS image sensor is larger than your average compact and indeed larger than your average pro/premium compacts sensor.... and size here really does count! It is a 2/3in sensor giving an area of 58mm square approx compared to, 1/1.6 or 1/1.7 48.5mm2 and 43mm2 repectively as used in other premium compacts. Standard compacts generally use a 1/2.3in sensor giving approx 28mm2 ie. Half the size. It offers an adequate 12million pixelswhich is more than enough for any amateur and some pro uses, enabling you to print high quality to A4 and acceptable results up to A3. The EXR sensor differs in design to most sensors in the way the pixel array is laid out. It has a fast wide aperture Fujinon lens equivalent to 28-112 f2-2.8 with super electron beam coating on every element inside the lens unique to Fuji. EXR image processor powers all the major fuctions and is dual core . It features full manual control and also fully automatic and scene modes, with capture as jpeg, jpeg and raw or raw only.It also offers full 1080p at 30fps movie mode.Controls and Operation. The X10 is cleverly designed with the enthusiast in mind although, at the same time easy enough for a beginner to soon get to grips with. The large controls offer easy control of almost all shooting aspects and are clearly marked. The menu is easy to come to terms with and most users will be using this little beauty within minutes with very little need to consult the manual! It offers face detection and a built in pop up flash but, even has a hot shoe for a dedicated flash. Movie mode is simplicity itself, turn the main command dial to movie setting and press the shutter button. You can continue to zoom in or out as required using the manual zoom. The quality of captured movie is excellent thanks to the high quality fast lens.
